These cinnamon sugar apple fries are a warm, sweet treat made with crisp apple slices coated in buttery cinnamon sugar and baked until tender with lightly caramelized edges. They offer a healthier alternative to traditional fries and make a perfect snack, dessert, or fun side dish.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apple Fries:
4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Fuji, or Gala), sliced into fry-shaped pieces
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or coconut oil/vegetable oil for a vegan option)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (or coconut sugar/brown sugar)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Wash, core, and slice the apples into thin, fry-like strips, keeping them as uniform as possible for even baking.
  • In a large bowl, melt the butter and add the apple slices, tossing to coat evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apples and toss until all pieces are well coated.
  • Spread the apple fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized at the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
