Ingredients
- 1 lb strawberries
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Cut the strawberries in half and place them in a saucepan. Add the sugar, orange zest, and lemon juice.
- Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until the mixture bubbles.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes until strawberries soften.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the saucepan and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened.
- Allow the compote to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
