- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for thinning, as needed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.
- Beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture until just combined.
- Spread batter in the prepared pan and bake for 22–25 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the glaze, brown butter in a saucepan; whisk in powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk as needed for consistency.
- Pour glaze over cooled bars and let set before cutting.
