- 200g all-purpose flour

- 1/4 tsp salt
- 100g light brown sugar
- 100g unsalted butter, melted
- 150ml milk
- 1 large egg
- 100g dark treacle or molasses
- 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
- 100g golden syrup
- 50g unsalted butter
- 50g light brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F) and grease an 8-inch cake tin lined with parchment paper.
- Sift together flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk melted butter, light brown sugar, milk, egg, and dark treacle until smooth.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients without overmixing; gently fold in diced pears.
- Pour batter into the prepared tin and bake for 35–40 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
- Prepare the glaze by heating golden syrup, butter, and brown sugar until smooth; pour over the warm cake after poking holes in it.
