- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
- 4 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar (for dough)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1¾ cups fresh or frozen strawberries
- Juice of half a lemon
- Cream cheese, softened
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking strawberries with lemon juice and granulated sugar until thickened. Blend until smooth and let cool.
- Make the dough by mixing flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a stand mixer bowl. Add warm milk, butter, and egg; knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 2 hours).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the cooled strawberry filling evenly.
- Roll tightly from one edge and cut into 12 strips.
- Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare glaze by beating together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cold strawberry puree until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
