  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: About 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups apples (cored, peeled, and chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook until apples soften (about 5-7 minutes) and remove from heat.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix in cut pieces of butter until crumbly.
  3. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Press half of the oatmeal mixture into the bottom. Spread apple filling evenly over it and crumble remaining oatmeal mixture on top.
  4. Bake for about 50 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
