- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add in the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
- Gradually stir in boiling water to create a smooth batter.
- Divide the batter among the prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool before transferring them to a wire rack.
