- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted or softened
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1/4 tsp of salt until smooth. Gradually mix in 1 cup of all-purpose flour.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, toss together 3 sliced apples with 2 tbsp of flour, 2 tbsp of granulated sugar, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg. Spread this over the crust.
- For the topping, mix together 1/2 cup of flour, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apple layer.
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown on top. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
