- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple juice (optional)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage (optional)
Instructions
- In a large deep sauté pan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until lightly browned, about 10–12 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and add salt and pepper. Stir continuously for one minute.
- Gradually whisk in the turkey drippings until smooth.
- If using, stir in apple juice and sage to enhance flavor.
- Simmer gently until thickened, about 4–5 minutes, stirring often.
- Serve hot over turkey or your favorite sides.
